Kaden & Laura Outside

Kaden and Laura got some anti-ant work done last evening. It was beautiful outside! Also, we have a small rabbit living in our back yard.

Washington, D.C. Trip

I went to DC for a few days for a trade show. While I was there, I got another SWEET ride in Wes' Pitts S-2C and then had dinner with Rich and his wife, Laura. We ate at Elli's Brick Oven Pizza. (Not as good as Bertucci's, which was down the street.)

Kaden's Second Birthday - He's 2!

This morning we had Kaden's second birthday party at the McLean Teddy Bear Park. We showed up with the grill, a cake, balloons and a bicycle and had his party there. We had about 15 people in all. We grilled up some hot dogs, ate cake and cupcakes and played on the playground equipment.

Kaden is now TWO!

Cloud Surfing Video

This is the video of my return flight above the clouds. Go directly to the video by clicking here.

Morning Flight

Up at 5:30am and out the door before 6am for a morning flight to Urbana (I74) to meet up with Dave G. and do some lie telling and so forth over breakfast. I got to the airport before sunrise and pulled the Arrow out. Ten minutes later, I was airborne, watching the sun rise over my left wing. What a beautiful morning to be in the air - 50F, clear and quiet.

Nearing Urbana, I noticed some low, patchy clouds and couldn't really see Grimes Field. Thank goodness for GPS. I skirted underneath and lined up with the airport with a few scattered clouds and landed on 02. I parked and walked up to a locked FBO/Cafe building. Uh oh.

Not a minute later, the waitress unlocked the door and allowed me to get some of that morning "go juice" known as coffee. After ten minutes reading my latest issue of AOPA Pilot, waiting on Dave, my phone rings. Uh oh. "Are you in Urbana?" "Yeah." "You didn't get my e-mail?" "No."

Due to some overcast skies in Columbus, he couldn't launch and headed to work. Sucker. (Kidding, Dave. Sorta.) He got to work and have beautiful skies. The clouds were moving pretty fast.

After a good breakfast of eggs, toast, bacon and coffee, I hit the runway again and lifted off into clear skies. Looking east, I could see the overcast that probably grounded Dave. It was solid, but very thin. I flew over it and took a few photos and some video. It was beautiful.

I headed back to Bluffton, fueled and headed out to work. I clocked in early. Nice.

What a beautiful morning to fly.

Kaden got down to work again building another tower. He sure likes building them. Also, he opened his present today that came in the mail from Colorado. He rode it all night!

Buzz Around the Block

I took the Arrow up today in anticipation of Kaden's birthday gift. It's been awhile since I've flown and when I did, it wasn't much. I took off from Bluffton into a rainy Findlay area, so I turned around and did two touch-and-go's at Lima. The wind was 040 @ 13, so it was some good crosswind practice.

After a couple loops over my parents' house, I headed back to a smooth landing in Bluffton with wind right down the runway. Check out these clouds and rain. The third is looking south from between Bluffton and Findlay. The first two are looking north towards Findlay.
