POTW Second Place
I send in a photo for the AvWeb Picture of the Week and seemed to have scored 2nd place. You can see that it's a photo of Laura and Kaden on the ramp at the Lima Airport.
Maybe next time I'll win the free hat...

Red Bull MIG-17 at AOH
Laura, Kaden and I were at Lima Allen Co Airport (AOH) today to meet up with Dave G and his RV-6 so Laura could get a "test ride" before I started looking at RV-4's. When I showed up, I saw a red fighter jet. SWEET! Upon closer inspection, I found out it's the Red Bull MIG 17F that is flown in air shows around the country. They were on their way back from NY to Cali and stopped in Lima to fuel up and check out another airplane to buy as their support plane.
The owner let me take as many photos as I wanted and he did an after burner take off for us on the way out. Pretty awesome as I was about 100' from the runway when he went by. WOW!
Here are a few of the photos I took.

Kaden's First Birthday
The day finally came for Kaden's first birthday. He is now one year old and is getting smarter and smarter. He's walking about ten steps at a time and standing for 5-10 seconds, no problem. He'll be all over the house in no time. Well, today we had a birthday bash for him at our house. We set up the garage with tables and chairs and invited friends and family over for the fun. It was great!

Done Skydiving ... For Now
As of summer of 2005, we have stopped skydiving. We have sold off our gear and have just taken up other hobbies such as flying and traveling with Kaden. Also, with having a little boy around the house, even more time is spent at home and taking care of him. It was a good run for about 4.5 years. We haven't called it quits for good, but for now, we're going to devote our time to other things.
Here is what we had and where we went:
Our Gear
- Sunrise Rigging Wings (container)
- Icarus Safire (main canopy)
- Precision Aerodynamics Dash-M (reserve canopy)
- Airtec CYPRES (AAD)
- FREEdom Means Choice (freefly suit)
- Bonehead Composites Mindwarp (helmet)
- Alti-2 Altimaster 3 (altimeter)
- Larsen & Brusgaard Pro Track (audible altimeter)
- Skydive Richmond (Richmond, IN) - our home DZ
- Skydive Wayne County (Xenia, OH) - first jump
- Skydive Space Center (Titusville, FL) - Florida trip 2002
- Chicagoland Skydiving Center (Hinckley, IL) - Chicago trip 2002
- Grand Lake Skydiving (Celina, OH) - Brandon only

Rodeo Jump
We finally got the opportunity to head back down to Richmond after quite awhile with no jumping. We jumped three times each, and on the third jump, we were lucky enough to get Tom to jump with us and do video.
We jumped and did a "rodeo dive". It went very well, and we broke off at 5k and dumped at 3.5k. After a decent landing, we all felt really good about it.
